Insomnia

All you want to do is sleep, but sleep won't come!

 

 

 

 

This simple breathing and visualization exercise will help you unwind, ready for sleep.

1. Bring your hands together in front of your chest, with the heels of your hands and tips of your fingers and thumbs touching. Breath in, and then out, slowly and gently.

2. Breathe in again keeping the heels of your hands together. Open your fingers and thumbs like the petals of a water lily.

3. As you do this, picture this beautiful flower floating serenely on still, clear water. Breathe slowly , in and out. Finish on an out-breath, imagining the petals closing for the night, as your fingers and thumbs close up again.

 

 

HELPFUL TIPS FOR INSOMNIA

Develop regular sleeping habits

Don't drink tea and coffee before going to bed

Avoid alcohol

Make sure you are tired by exercising regularly

Drink a mug of warm milk with a banana before going to bed
